translation invariant approach for measuring similarity of signals

چکیده
in many signal processing applications, an appropriate measure to comparetwo signals plays a fundamental role in both implementing the algorithm andevaluating its performance. several techniques have been introduced in literature assimilarity measures. however, the existing measures are often either impractical forsome applications or they have unsatisfactory results in some other applications.this problem becomes more evident when signals involve translations in amplitudeand time. this paper presents a new one dimensional similarity measure to comparetwo signals. the proposed measure accepts transformations like time-shift,amplitude-scale, amplitude-shift, and phase delay in measuring the similarity. theresults in this paper indicate that the proposed approach overcomes exitingtechniques in measuring similarity among different signals.

متن کاملTranslation invariant classification of non-stationary signals
Non-stationary signal classification is a complex problem. This problem becomes even more difficult if we add the following hypothesis: each signal includes a discriminant waveform, the time location of which is random and unknown. This is a problem that may arise in Brain Computer Interfaces (BCI) or in electroencephalogram recordings of patients prone to epilepsy. The aim of this article is t...
متن کاملUsing Invariant Translation to Denoise Electroencephalogram Signals
Problem statement: Because of the distance between the skull and the brain and their different resistivity’s, Electroencephalogram (EEG) recordings on a machine is usually mixed with the activities generated within the area called noise. EEG signals have been used to diagnose major brain diseases such as Epilepsy, narcolepsy and dementia. The presence of these noises however can result in misdi...

Advanced engineering materials design involves the exploration of massive multidimensional feature spaces, the correlation of materials properties and the processing parameters derived from disparate sources. The search for alternative materials or processing property strategies, whether through analytical, experimental or simulation approaches, has been a slow and arduous task, punctuated by i...
متن کاملCNGL-CORE: Referential Translation Machines for Measuring Semantic Similarity
We invent referential translation machines (RTMs), a computational model for identifying the translation acts between any two data sets with respect to a reference corpus selected in the same domain, which can be used for judging the semantic similarity between text. RTMs make quality and semantic similarity judgments possible by using retrieved relevant training data as interpretants for reach...
